How it works

  • It calculates the container’s volume (as a cylinder) up to the fill line.
  • It converts that to weight using the density of the wax you chose.
  • Fragrance is calculated as a % of the wax weight.
  • Buy 10% extra wax for pouring losses and the second pour.

Frequently asked questions

How much wax goes in a 7 oz (200 ml) jar?+

About 6–6.3 oz (170–180 g) of soy wax, because wax weighs a bit less than water.

Why doesn’t wax fill the same volume as water?+

Wax is less dense than water (about 0.86–0.95 g/ml), so 100 ml of wax weighs less than 100 g.

How high should I fill the jar?+

Leave about 1/2 inch (1–1.5 cm) below the rim: it looks nicer and it’s safer.
